Indus Valley Trek



Delhi – Leh (Complete Rest in Leh for acclimatisation) Take the morning flight for Leh from Delhi. On arrival at Leh met our representative and transfer to pre booked hotel/Guest house for relax and acclimatisation. This is necessary for getting acclimatised at high altitude. Evening one can visit the color full market of Leh. Overnight in the hotel/guesthouse.


Leh – Shey – Thiksey - Hemis

On this day you will go a sightseeing trip to some ancient monasteries in this area.

Shey Gompa is about 15 kms from Leh. It used to be the summer palace of the kings of Ladakh. There are lots of Stupas and Gompas built around the palace. Shey palace was built by Deldan Namgyal in the beginning of 17’Th century AD. Main attraction in Shey is the 12m Shakyamuni Buddha statue inside the Dresthang Gompa.

Thiksey Gompa, close to Shey is about 17 kms from Leh. The monastery is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Ladakh and belongs to the Gelukspa order.

Hemis, about 45 kms south of Leh it is one of the most famous and largest monastery in Ladakh. It belongs to the Drukpa order and was founded in the early 17’Th century. The setting is perfect with the monastery cradled in a lovely valley, surrounded by streams and fronted by long Mani walls. Overnight stay at the guest house.


Leh – Likir (By Road/2 hrs) In the morning meet our guide & drive; after introduction drive towards Likir. The Gompa of Likir was established around the 15th century and early in its history. At Likir Gompa the Lama use yellow - hat on their head. There are total house of 125 Lamas. Overnight stay at Likir in camp.

Day4 Likir - Yangthang (3600m) The route goes through two low passes, the Phobe La (3700m) and the Charatse La (3800m), opening to beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Overnight stay in tent.
Day5 Yangthang - Hemis Shukpachan (3600m) En route, visit of the Ridzong monastery, which is set in stunning surroundings and hidden amongst the hills. After a tiny pass, we descend towards Hemis Shukpachan. Overnight stay in tent.

Hemis Shukpachan - Temisgang (3700m) This part of the trail has been carved out from the ochre rocks into a balcony. We climb towards two passes at 4000m and arrive at Ang. Then on to Temisgang, ancient capital of the Sham Kingdom, and its monastery. Overnight stay in tent.


Temisgang - Lamayuru - Leh by bus. Morning visit of the Lamayuru and Alchi monasteries & later after breakfast drive back to Leh. Overnight stay in hotel.


Leh – Delhi by plane Morning transfer to the Airport to catch the flight for Delhi.
