Overview

Guwahati is a sprawling city beside the Brahmaputra River in the northeast Indian state of Assam. It’s known for holy sites like the hilltop Kamakhya Temple, featuring shrines to the Hindu deities Shiva and Vishnu. To the east, 18th-century Navagraha Temple is an astronomical center with planetary shrines. Umananda Temple, dedicated to Shiva and covered with engravings, stands on Peacock Island in the river.

GUWAHATI & SHILLONG TOUR

Day 01: Guwahati – Shillong (Approx 2 h 42 min/99.6 km) 

Upon arrival in Guwahati, meet our tour representative who’ll assist you in smooth transfer to  Shillong. Shillong is a hill station in the northeastern part of India and the capital of Meghalaya, which means "The Abode of Clouds" and is one of the smallest states in India. It is the headquarters of the East Khasi Hills district and is situated at an average altitude of 4,908 feet (1,496 m) above sea level, with the highest point being Shillong Peak at 6,449 feet (1,966 m).Overnight stay at Hotel in Shillong.

 

 

 

Day 02:Shillong sightseeing.

1).Umiam Lake, Umiam Lake, a mesmerizing man-made reservoir, is located at a distance of 15 kilometers north of Shillong which is the capital of the north-eastern Indian state of Meghalaya.

2).Elephant Falls, Definitely the most popular tourist site of Shillong, these falls are 12km from the city and can be easily reached by public transport. It is a collection of three smaller falls which eventually merge into one.

3).Shillong Peak At the height of 6449 ft and 1965 m above sea level, this is the highest point of Shillong. It offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city, the Himalayas, its waterfalls as well as of the Bangladesh plains. 

 

 

Day 03: Shillong  – Cherrapunjee (Approx 1 h 46 min/53.6 km).

Morning after breakfast drive to Cherrapunji the native name Sohra being more commonly used, and can also be spelled Cherrapunjee or Cherrapunji) is a subdivisional town in the East Khasi Hills district in the Indian state of Meghalaya. It is the traditional capital of a Nongkhlaw hima (Khasi tribal chieftainship constituting a petty state), both known as Sohra or Churra.We shall visit

Nohkalikai Waterfalls Just 5km from the city, at 1100 feet, these are the fourth highest waterfalls of the world.

Mawsmai Cave Meghalaya is home to some amazing and mysterious cave systems and Mawsmai Cave is by far the most popular of the lot. Located just 6 km away from the heart of Cherrapunjee Mawsmai cave is a breathtaking maze of caves in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya.

Krem Phyllut Located south of Cherrapunji, this place is a major tourist attraction owning to the caves it has.Overnight stay at Hotelin Cherrapunji.

 

 

Day 04:Cherrapunji sightseeing.

1).Dawki, A small border town in the Jaintia Hills, Dawki and its famed river Umngot is a must visit if in Meghalaya. Sandwiched between India and Bangladesh, Dawki is a major center of trade between India and Bangladesh.

2). Mawlynnong,Also located in the East Khasi district, this village has won the title of 3).3).Double Decker Living Root Bridge Asia's cleanest village in 2003 and India's cleanest village in 2005. This village is also referred as God's own garden.Overnight stay at Hotel.

 

 

Day 05: Cherrapunjee – Kaziranga (Approx 6 hr 45 min (231.3 km).

Morning after breakfast check out from Cherrapunjee and drive to Kaziranga National Park is a protected area in the northeast Indian state of Assam. Spread across the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, its forests, wetlands and grasslands are home to tigers, elephants and the world’s largest population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses. Overnight stay.

 

 

Day 06: KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK.

Early morning explore Kaziranga National Park on back of elephant. Apart from world’s endangered One Horn Indian Rhinoceros, the Park sustains half the world’s population of genetically pure Wild Water Buffaloes, over 1000 Wild elephants and perhaps the densest population of Royal Bengal Tiger anywhere. Kaziranga National Park is also a bird watcher’s paradise and home to some 500 species of Birds. The Crested Serpent Eagle, Palla’s Fishing Eagle, Greyheaded Fishing Eagle, Swamp Partridge, Bar-headed goose, whistling Teal, Bengal Florican, Storks, Herons and Pelicans are some of the species found here. We will return to the resort for breakfast. Afternoon we proceed for a jeep safari. Evening come back to the hotel. Overnight stay at Kaziranga National Park.

 

 

Day 07:KAZIRANA GUWAHATI (Approx 55 min (11.4 km)

Morning after breakfast drive to Guwahati, we shall visit,

1). The Umananda Temple is located in the small Peacock Island amidst the mighty Brahmaputra. This quiet place of worship is named after and dedicated to Lord Shiva.

2). Kamakhya Temple, Located on the Nilanchal Hill in the western part of Guwahati in Assam, the Kamakhya temple is one of the most revered shrines of Shakti in India.

3).Guwahati Zoo The proud possessors of some rare and endangered species, the Assam Zoo spread over 130 acres of land is a major tourist attraction. The whiter tigers, one horned rhinos, Swamp tapirs and leopards to name a few, are usually the tourists' favourites.

4). Brahmaputra cruise is very well managed cruise, The sights are quite beautiful and the organisers do a very good job The landscape and river is superb.Overnight stay at Hotel in Guwahati. 

 

 

Day 08: Guwahati – Departure.

Today, you will be transferred to the Guwahati airport to board flight for onward journey.
