Overview

Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world and in India, at an elevation of 5,430 m according to the Government of Sikkim. It is located in the Great Himalayas in the Mangan District in Indian state of Sikkim, and considered sacred by Buddhists and Sikhs

Trip Itineraries

LACHEN,GURUDONGMAR LAKE, LACHUNG & YUMHANG TOUR

Day 01: GANGTOK –LACHEN (Approx 5 hrs/124 km).

Pick up from the hotel at Gangtok at about 10 a.m. & proceed to Lachen (123 Km) at an altitude of 8,600 ft. Enroute visit Tashi Viewpoint, Kabi Lungstok, Naga Waterfalls, the confluence of Lachen Chu and Lachung Chu at Chungthang, Arrive Lachen at Late afternoon in the evening & transfer to hotel Night halt, surrounded by fir – clad mountain peaks, overwhelming peace and solitude.Overnight stay at Hotel.

 

 

Day 02: LACHEN – GURUDONGMAR LAKE – LACHUNG (Approx 8 hrs/178 km).

After breakfast leave for Gurudongmar Lake (17,200ft), Thangu ( 13,000 ft.) and Chopta Valley ( 13,200 ft.). Thangu Valley is a broad valley at the junction of Thangu Chu, Chopta Chu and Lassur Chu. In the spring end to summer months Rhododendrons, Primula and many other Alpine flowers are in full bloom. In the winter months you can play in the snow or even walk over frozen rivers. The unspoilt beauty of the area will take breath away. Come back to Lachen for Lunch. After lunch proceed to Lachung. Enroute see the beautiful Twin Waterfalls and Bhim Nala Waterfalls. Arrive Lachung at Late afternoon in the evening & transfer to hotel. Night stay in Lachung.

One can also visit Kalapathar by paying extra to the driver on the spot. Subject to availability of permit depends upon road and weather conditions.

NOTE: We do not suggest people above the age of 60 with heart and breathing problems and also the children below the age of 5 unless they sign an undertaking by themselves or their guardian for Gurudongmar Lake.

Foreigners are not allowed to visit Gurudongmar Lake. No refund will be entertained in last moment, incase our guest couldn’t make it to Gurudongmar Lake due to any unforeseen reason. 

 

 

  

Day 03: LACHUNG - YUMTHANG – LACHUNG (Approx 48kms/3hrs/2 ways).

Early morning around 7 am after breakfast, proceed on a half day excursion to Yumthang Valley (11800 Ft / 3598 Mts / 25 Kms / 1 ½ hours one way). (Yumesamdong is an optional tour)  On the way visit the Hot Spring and Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary and come back to Lachung, have lunch after lunch and go for a walk around Lachung valley or rest at the Hotel. Dinner and Overnight stay at the same Hotel.

(One can also visit Katao,Sanglaphu Lake and Zero point also known as Yumesamdong). By paying extra vehicle charges to the driver on the spot).

 

Day 04: LACHUNG – GANGTOK (Approx 118 kms/5hrs).

After breakfast, on the way visit Seven Sister waterfalls is a popular waterfall located on the Gangtok- Lachung Highway, around 32 kilometers away from Gangtok, Kabi Lungchok (also spelled Kabi Longstok) is a historic site of significance, which is located 17 kilometers and transfer to Gangtok. On the way lunch, drop to your Hotel.

  • Permits Required: Many areas in Sikkim, especially North Sikkim and border regions, require permits. Ensure you have the necessary documents in advance.
